Back in November of 2023, I tried my hand with Unreal 5. I had a fun idea for a game about piloting an airship/submarine thing on the surface of Venus. I was heavily inspired by Subnautica for this, as well as a few other games. I worked hard on it for a month or two before my interest waned. I’m not much of a programmer, so I was using Unreal Blueprint to make everything, which honestly worked great! At least, it made sense to me. However, Blueprint does not seem to be particularly scalable, and the more features I added, the more convoluted and cluttered my setups became.

Since it’s unlikely I will ever continue work on this game, I’ve decided to release it as a free demo! It’s still painfully unfinished, as I never completed the model work for the airship/submarine, and there’s really not much gameplay. I’m really only posting this for posterity, and maybe someone will have some fun goofing around in the airship I made for a few minutes.

The airship itself is in fact, flyable, with W and S accelerating and decelerating, A and D turning, and Q and R ascending and descending. You can fiddle with the “knobs” above the control stick to change the map settings. Please don’t go to far out of the map area, as it will probably crash 🙁

It’s currently Windows only, and you might need DX12 to run it. I’m not sure, I never tested it anywhere else ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Enjoy!
